FIRE INCIDENT AT FINE COAT COMPANY, ALAGBADO #LagAbkExpWay YESTERDAY BY [3:50 PM]

Finecoat Paints factory on fire at CASSO  ALAGBADO #LagAbkExpWay, No fewer than ten people on Wednesday sustained varying degrees of injuries when fire gutted Fine Coat Paint, at Casso Bus Stop along the ever busy Abeokuta Expressway destroying properties worth millions of Naira. #Report:- X-0ne


Although the cause of the fire cannot be established   our correspondent gathered that the fire might have erupted from explosion from the chemical mixture which later spread to other inflammable substance in the premises of the paint making factory.



 Properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed hours before the emergency agencies and the officials of the Lagos State Fire Service arrived the scene.

For hours, there was confusion at the scene of the fire which was aggravated  by  ‎the usual traffic gridlock which is a common feature of the axis, especially during the peak hours.

Men of the fire fighters, officials of the ‎Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Rapid Respond Squad, RSS, workers in the factory and other sympathizers, including drivers and conductors plying the routes could not but assisted in putting out the fire.

The timely intervention of the officials of the LASEMA, who were arriving from the enumeration of the windstorm ‎displaced victims also helped to rescue lives. Many injured victims were quickly rushed to the nearby General Hospital.
Confirming on the , LASEMA General Manager, Dr Femi Oke Osanyintolu, who said he could not also explain the cause of the fire, said that the‎ efforts were ongoing to ensure that the lives of the victims are saved.
 He said: “We cannot tell you precisely the cause of the fire, our investigation is still ongoing but from the primary survey, we were informed that the fire was due to the chemical explosion. So far, all the emergency responders are on the ground. So far, we have taken five casualties to Orile-General Hospital. All the stakeholders that are relevant in managing emergency are still combating it.”
 He reiterated that the timely intervention of the emergency workers in the state prevented loss of lives and reduced the extent of damage.
“Our emergency respond team are effective and efficient that is why we were able to rescue the victim despite the extent of destruction caused by the fire . The victims sustained various degrees of injuries but one of them suffer severe burns. He inhaled a lot carbon monoxide. So far, nobody died and the operation is still ongoing,” Osanyintolu said.
